Park Place is a fresh urban development in Leawood, Kansas. The project is the culmination of local residential and retail developers Melanie Mann and Jeffrey Alpert’s 30 years in the real estate business.

Melanie Mann is a principal executive of Park Place Partners, a Kansas City area development company recognized for developing quality, mixed-use communities. She has over 20 years of experience in acquisition, development, marketing and real estate.

She is a graduate of the University of Arizona and the University of Missouri-Kansas City Law School. She is a licensed attorney in the State of Missouri and a licensed real estate broker in both Missouri and Kansas.

Ms. Mann currently serves on the ULI Kansas City advisory board, the MARC Sustainable Places policy committee, the Johnson County Reappraisal advisory committee, and is actively involved in Village Presbyterian Church. She and her husband Joe Harter and their two sons reside in Fairway, Kansas.


For the last 40 years, Jeffrey Alpert has been active in the real estate development, construction, and property management industries in the Greater Kansas City area.

Mr. Alpert has been involved in numerous innovative residential and commercial projects resulting in 1,700 developed home sites, over 250 constructed homes, 500 apartment and condominium spaces built or renovated, and more than a million square feet of developed office and retail space.

He is past president of the Greater Kansas City Home Builders Association, where he served for over 23 years. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Home Builders. As a former member of the Beacon Hill Task Force, Mr. Alpert coordinated the redevelopment of a central-city residential neighborhood east of downtown Kansas City. He was also appointed to the steering committee for “Creating Quality Places,” a metropolitan-area planning initiative formed by the Mid-America Regional Council.

Mr. Alpert and his wife Cathy have two children and five grandchildren and reside in Leawood, Kansas.
